Decades in inspecting, decades living in South Carolina
Daniel Whitten has been working in the inspection business in South Carolina for more than 25 years. After graduating with a degree in construction engineering from the University of Southern Mississippi he spent four years in Texas working as an assistant project manager and project engineer for large national construction firms. On a fateful road trip to see Fall colors he and his wife Karen drove through Greenville, South Carolina and fell in love with the region. Daniel didn’t delay — he and his wife returned to Texas, where he resigned from his job in Big Corporate, they moved to Greenville, and have never looked back.
Degreed in construction engineering, mentored by the best
Daniel wanted to use his degree and his natural interest in building structures to offer service to others, while at the same time working more independently and with more autonomy and creativity. With that in mind, he pursued and achieved a home inspection license and was mentored by one of the best inspection and business minds in the Upstate. Later on he acquired his commercial inspection license. In 2023 Daniel added a termite inspection license to his home inspection and general contractors licenses. This latest license allows him to produce CL-100 Letters or Wood Infestation Reports when requested during his home or commercial inspections.
Licensed in contracting for 25 years
On the side, Daniel began doing occasional small to mid-sized contracting repair jobs on homes — projects only large enough for a skilled individual (with perhaps an occasional small crew of trusted helpers). He received his general contractor’s license in 1997.
Daniel has a variety of interests, including woodworking, re-purposing and restoring beautiful salvaged materials, mountain biking, hiking, and reading, particularly Charles Dickens, Len Deighton, and the great Patrick O’Brian novels. He and his wife Karen have two children, both recently married.
